Sticker Spotlight: Waterkeeper Alliance

Living in the high desert in Arizona, we are naturally conscious and protective of our water sources, for drinking and playing. We Southwesterners aren't the only ones, concerned, though. The Waterkeeper Alliance is a global movement of on-the-water advocates who patrol and protect over 100,000 miles of rivers, streams and coastlines in North and South America, Europe, Australia, Asia, and Africa.

Waterkeeper Alliance is one of the fastest growing environmental organizations in the world, with over 200 local Waterkeepers patrolling waterways on six continents. Their grassroots advocacy promotes fishable, swimmable, and drinkable waterways worldwide. Some of the ways they achieve this is through a clean energy campaign, a clean water campaign, and a "Pure Farms, Pure Waters" campaign.

"Follow the Water"

These three simple words form the guiding principle of Waterkeepers, who understand the one thing that many seem to ignore: Without water, there can be no life. Without clean water, there can be no healthy life.

• 884 million people, or approximately 1 in 8 people, lack access to safe water supplies.
• At any given time, half the world's hospital beds are filled with patients suffering from water-related disease.

Although there are many more harrowing statistics on the Waterkeeper Alliance website, these two facts bring to light how serious having clean water is.

As a grassroots organization, Waterkeeper Alliance appears at many relevant events around the world, and custom vinyl stickers are a new addition to their promotion materials. The organization also designs local events to suit the interests of the community and features festivities the whole community can enjoy. The stickers will also be brought to the Annual Conference to make them available to all of our Waterkeepers working around the world.
